Man who contacted teen for sex claimed he was a 'sexologist,' investigators say

DENVER - The CALL7 Investigators learned Thursday that a man arrested last week for trying to lure a child into having sex claimed he was a college student studying "sexology."

Benjamin Clinton Stribling, 30, is also a sex offender on parole, the CALL7 Investigators found out.

He is under parole supervision in Elbert County and is originally from Washington state.

The new charges stem from interactions he's accused of having with a girl on Facebook.  He's accused of posing as a college student studying "sexology" and said he had to have sex with girls who were virgins as part of his "research."

Arapahoe County investigators said the mother called them on June 29. She said a man had contacted her 13-year-old daughter on the Internet and was trying to establish a sexual relationship with the teen, sheriff's officials said.

Investigators posing as the teen said they then communicated with the man on the Internet and via text message.

Deputies said the man offered to travel from Colorado Springs to Centennial and pick up the 13-year-old girl for sexual activity.

Stribling was arrested Aug. 2 and is charged with attempted sex assault on a child, Internet luring and parole violation.
