Man swept away in Clear Creek identified as Canadian father of 2

GOLDEN, Colo. - Golden Police have identified the man who was swept away in Clear Creek over the weekend.

Police said 39-year-old Sean Duplessis is from Alberta, Canada and was in Colorado the past two months working for his company in Canada.

Duplessis and a co-worker were near the kayak park in Golden along Clear Creek when they decided to jump in around midnight Saturday morning.  According to the co-worker, both had been drinking.  The co-worker suspected that it had been about 45 minutes from the time he last saw Duplessis to when police arrived. 

A preliminary search was done for the man in the early-morning hours Saturday and a more extensive search of Clear Creek was conducted during daylight hours. The search area stretched from Golden all the way into Adams County.  No sign of Duplessis was found.

"Although he is presumed to be dead, he is considered a missing person," police said in a news release.

Duplessis is 5-feet 8-inches tall and weighs 210 pounds.  He is a husband and father of a 15-year old boy and a 9-year old girl, police said.  Anyone has seen Duplessis is asked contact Golden Police at 303-384-8045.
