Man shot trying to pursue suspects who stole his car in Commerce City

COMMERCE CITY, Colo – A man is recovering after being shot while pursuing suspects who stole his car in Commerce City.

According to the Commerce City Police Department, on Saturday, officers responded around 7:45 pm were dispactched to the area of E.96^th Avenue and Eagle Creek Parkway to a report of a party following suspects who stole a vehicle. As officers arrived in the area, it was reported that the victim had confronted the suspects who ran from the vehicle.

The suspects entered a second dark-colored sedan and began to drive off.

According to CCPD, the suspects were driving off, and a shot was fired from the sedan hitting the male victim in the upper abdomen area.

According to CCPD, the victim started his vehicle and left the keys inside the vehicle as he went back into the house.

CCPD the vehicle was taken from the 9700 block of Chambers Road.

According to CCPD the investigation is ongoing, and there is no additional information available at this time.
