LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. - A Larimer County man died after he opened fire on a sheriff's deputy Friday night.
Deputies were called to the 100 block of Guardian Peak Drive in Glacier View just before midnight after a woman called saying her former boyfriend had just showed up at her home.
The woman believed the man had overdosed and needed medical attention, said Kathy Messick of the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.
As deputies were en-route, the woman told deputies the man left the home and that he had a handgun, Messick said.
When deputies arrived at her home, they found the man, who pointed a handgun at deputies and opened fire once, she said.
A deputy fired a single shot back, Messick said.
It's not clear if the deputy hit the man or not, although the he was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The shooting is still under investigation.
