Man sentenced for deadly Black Forest shooting rampage

Kenneth Lankford gets life plus 104 years

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - An El Paso County man has pleaded guilty to several charges stemming from a deadly shooting rampage in Black Forest northeast of Colorado Springs

The Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1BOsZtC ) 47-year-old Kenneth Lankford pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree murder, second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and burglary in the November deaths of his wife, 51-year-old Terry Lankford, and 51-year-old Carol Fowler. He also shot and wounded Fowler's husband, Thomas Fowler.

Investigators say Lankford told them he fatally shot his wife as a mercy killing after a gun accidentally went off and injured her. He then lashed out and shot the Fowlers, who he said were random victims.

Lankford was sentenced to life in prison without parole, plus 104 years.
