DENVER – The last time we saw professional slack-liner Mickey Wilson, he was on the Ellen DeGeneres show recounting his harrowing rescue of a man caught hanging by his neck from his backpack on an Arapahoe Basin lift chair.

He was in good spirits as he and Richard—the man he saved—learned they would both be headed to week-long vacations in Hawaii.

But last Saturday brought perhaps better spirits, as well as a chance to make use of that Hawaii trip DeGeneres awarded Wilson for saving a life, as Wilson married his girlfriend in a ceremony in Utah in what could only be described as a slack-liner’s dream wedding.

Wilson married his girlfriend, Purple McMullen-Laird, while suspended over the Fruit Bowl outside of Canyonlands, Utah. Hundreds lined the sides of the canyon as Wilson and McMullen-Laird walked on slack lines out to a net suspended 300 feet above the canyon’s floor.

After they read their vows, the two dropped 200 feet through a hole in the net’s center to swing on a rope.

The two are now using that Hawaii trip Wilson was awarded by DeGeneres for a seven-day, all-expenses-paid honeymoon.
