Man posing as fire dept. employee attacks woman in home

DENVER, Colo. - Denver police say a man posing as fire department employee investigating a gas leak forced his way into a woman's home and attacked her.

It happened at about 6:45 p.m. on Feb. 7, according to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers, in the 8500 block of East Alameda Avenue.

The victim said the man was armed with "box cutter" or "paint scraper."  She was able to fight off the suspect after a brief struggled and he ran away in an unknown direction.

The woman described the suspect as a black male, in his 30s, between 5-feet 6 inches and 5-feet 8-inches tall,  with a thin build, black medium-length hair that was in "corn rows," and a short goatee.  He was wearing a black jacket, black jeans, and black boots.
