Man points gun at Denver officer near S. Cherokee and W. Asbury; Search fails to find gunman

DENVER - A Denver police search didn't locate a man who pointed a gun at an officer on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident began after 12 p.m. in the 2000 block of South Cherokee Street, between South Santa Fe Drive and Broadway, Denver police said via Twitter.

After the man pointed a gun at the officer, he ran south into an alley and disappeared, according to police radio traffic. Police spokesman Sonny Jackson confirmed the man pointed a gun at the officer.

Police set up a search perimeter around the neighborhood and sent out a telephone alert to residents. But officers were unable to locate the man, Jackson said.
