Man dies when pickup truck loses control, flips into Clear Creek, State Patrol says

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. - A man died Monday after losing control of his pickup truck and crashing into Clear Creek in Jefferson County, authorities said.

The truck landed upside down in the frigid, rushing water off Highway 6 at about 4:38 p.m., said Colorado State Patrol spokesman Trooper Nate Reid.  A passerby reported the wreck.

Rescue divers pulled the man from the truck and brought him to the creek bank, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Reid said.

Investigators don't know if the man died from crash injuries or drowning, Reid said. The coroner will determine the cause of death. The man's name was not released.

The crash remains under investigation.
