DENVER - Denver police have identified a 25-year-old man arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man in southwest Denver late New Year's Day.

Robert Anthony Rubio was arrested Wednesday, police said. He is being held for investigation of first-degree murder.

Meanwhile, the Denver medical examiner identified the slaying victim as Troy Anthony Martinez, 21, of Westminster. Martinez died from multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen. The medical examiner ruled the manner of death is homicide.

At about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to 1044 South Alcott Street on a report of a shooting.  Arriving officers found two men who had been shot, police said.

Both men were transported to a nearby hospital where Martinez was pronounced dead, police said. The other man had non-life-threatening injuries.
