Man accused of theft while impersonating marshal

Authorities say a Colorado man lured another man to a Denver motel with an offer of sex, then handcuffed and robbed him while posing as a U.S. marshal.

Police say 43-year-old Michael Todd Abromovich stole a computer and iPad from the victim before releasing him.

Set Free God’s House ministry in Colorado Springs says Abromovich served as a pastor there for more than a year, preaching, teaching Bible class and fundraising.

Abromovich was arrested in Phoenix last week and was extradited to Denver on charges of kidnapping, theft and impersonating an officer. He hasn't entered a plea. Court records don't indicate whether he has an attorney.

Abromovich remained in custody of Denver police and will have a preliminary hearing Feb. 20, according to KOAA.

Abromovich also faces a theft charge in El Paso County. Details weren't immediately available.
