Lyons pharmacy robbed at gunpoint by female suspect who drove away in a blue pickup

Nearby schools advised to use 'lockout' procedure

LYONS, Colo. - Armed with a large handgun, deputies say a woman robbed a Lyons pharmacy of prescription medication.

The robbery was reported Monday at 10:50 a.m., said Cmdr. Heidi Prentup of the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.

The female suspect showed the weapon inside the St. Vrain Pharmacy at 440 Main St. in Lyons, got the medications and left the area in a dark blue pickup truck with a camper shell. It is believed she drove away toward Allenspark.

The suspect was described as a woman in her 30s with shoulder-length blond hair. She was wearing a felt hat, Prentup said.

Prentup also confirmed that nearby schools were advised to implement "lockout" security procedures, which secure the entrances and exits as a precaution.
