FORT MORGAN, Colo. - Dozens of friends and family members gathered Tuesday to say goodbye to a 17-year-old from Fort Morgan who had been missing for more than a year until her body found off a country road last month.
Loved one told stories about Kayla Chadwick, remembering her big smile and big heart as they watched a slideshow of her growing up.
Her big sister, Ashley Capangpangan, thanked all those who searched and prayed for Kayla.
"Kay, you will never be forgotten," the sister said, wiping away tears. "I love you and miss you more than any words can ever describe. There will always be a missing piece to me now that you are gone."
Then everyone spilled out of the church, many wearing purple, Kayla's favorite color. And they released bouquets of purple balloons into the sky.
Her family told 7NEWS they still don't know who killed Kayla, but they will fight to see that justice is done.
