Longmont woman, Kathleen Forsyth, killed in head-on crash

Police: Forsyth's car drifted into on-coming lane

LONGMONT - Police say a 63-year-old Longmont woman was killed Wednesday afternoon when her car drifted into oncoming traffic, hitting another car head-on.

Longmont Police Cmdr. Jeff Satur said the two-car collision happened about 3:30 p.m. on Ninth Avenue near Vivian Street.

Kathleen Forsyth was driving a gray 2009 Chevrolet Aveo west on Ninth when her car drifted into the eastbound lanes, Satur said. The Chevrolet slammed head-on into a 2004 Mercury Sable driven by Shalby Foth, 75, of Longmont.

Forsyth was killed in the crash.

Foth, whose birthday was Wednesday, was conscious and talking to first-responders at the scene, Saturday said. She was transported in serious condition to Longmont United Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
