DENVER - A water main break that forced hundreds of drivers to take a detour Thursday morning will not be repaired in time for the rush hour Thursday afternoon.
The water line broke under Lincoln Street, between 5th and 6th avenues.
At 7 a.m., all five lanes of traffic were being detoured around the break. By 8 a.m., one lane of traffic was being allowed around the break.
Denver Water said the water main that broke was an 8-inch line.
"Crews were able to isolate the break, and water service should not be affected in the area," officials told 7NEWS.
However, crews did not reach the actual damaged area until 2 p.m.
Crews expect to have just one lane open during the Thursday evening rush hour.
