ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – An Englewood Police Department detective is among the at least 515 people injured in a shooting at a concert outside a Las Vegas hotel, his family tells Denver7.
Det. Curtis Leoni was shot twice in the leg during the incident outside the Mandalay Bay hotel, in which a 64-year-old man is accused of opening fire on the country music festival that was being held outside.
Leoni’s ex-wife, Carole Hammond Leoni, said her ex-husband “is OK” after the shooting and is expected to recover.
She and Curtis have twin 10-year-old boys. Leoni was attending the concert and was not on duty when the shooting happened around 10 p.m. Las Vegas time, Carole said.
Stephen Paddock, 64, is the alleged shooter. Police say he killed himself as officers were about to enter his hotel room.
At least 58 people are confirmed to have died in the shooting, but Leoni is the only from Colorado who has publicly been named as having been injured or killed in the shooting at this time.
