Larimer County hopes cameras will deter panhandling

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. - For the second year in a row, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office is putting out video cameras to deter panhandling in heavily trafficked areas.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan, it is part of an effort to limit where and when people are allowed to ask for money.

Officials say they decided to redeploy the cameras recently because of warmer weather, which often leads to an increased number of panhandling in certain areas.

Larimer County commissioners in 2013 passed an ordinance that took aim at panhandling and made violations punishable by fines up to $1,000.
