DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. - Douglas County School District employees are being warned that their personal information may have been compromised.
A letter sent to more than 7,000 employees warns them that, "Recently, a Douglas County School District Business Services laptop computer was stolen from an employee’s home. We are concerned that this computer may have had some sensitive password-protected information, including the names, Social Security numbers and bank account information of some DCSD employees."
Douglas County School District officials said the computer was password protected and so far, no incidents or issues have been reported in connection with this theft.
However, DCSD is suggesting that employees take precautions to protect themselves, including putting a fraud alert on their credit files and watching for suspicious activity on their accounts.
Employees are also being offered identity theft protection through Kroll for free for one year.
