COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Grocery store customers who witnessed a robbery, grabbed the suspect and held him until officers arrived, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Officers said they were called to the King Soopers on Centennial Boulevard on Sunday at 1:16 p.m. on a report of a robbery and a report that customers and staff were in a physical confrontation with the suspect.
Sergeant Darrin Abbink said when he arrived, he found the suspect being restrained on the ground by several customers.
Investigators said the suspect walked up to an open register, shoved the clerk aside, grabbed the money and was running out of the business when the clerk and customers stopped him.
The money was recovered and Joseph Grimming, 27, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, police said.
