SUPERIOR, Colo. - A duplex fire that injured two firefighters and killed two dogs Sunday afternoon was started by juveniles playing with a lighter.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said they and Rocky Mountain Fire conducted interviews with residents of the home and other witnesses to determine the cause. The Sheriff’s Office is working with the District Attorney’s Office to determine if charges are appropriate.
The fire was reported at a duplex in the 300 block of S. 3rd Street in Superior around 12:10 PM Sunday. Smoke could be seen for several miles. When Officers and Firefighters arrived, the duplex was fully involved. Residents were able to get out safely.
One firefighter suffered from smoke inhalation and the other was injured when a part of the ceiling fell on him.
