Ken Gordon, former Senate Majority Leader dies outside hospital

DENVER - Former state Senate Majority Leader Ken Gordon died Sunday evening. He was 63.

Gordon was on his way to the gym in Cherry Creek on Sunday afternoon but instead arrived and parked near the emergency room at Rose Medical Center. He collapsed getting out of his vehicle.

"We're told he had a massive heart attack," his son, Ben, said.

Gordon died at about 5:30 p.m. Ben Gordon said it was completely unexpected; his father was extremely fit, ate a healthy diet and worked out daily.

"I thought he was going to outlive us all," Ben Gordon said. "He was the most fit person I knew. He was so strong."
