BOULDER, Colo. - Former Sen. John Glenn will deliver the eulogy at the funeral for Scott Carpenter, the second American to orbit the Earth.
Carpenter's memorial service will be held Nov. 2 in his birthplace of Boulder. He died Oct. 10 in a Denver hospice from complications from a September stroke. He was 88.
The Boulder Daily Camera reported Thursday (http://goo.gl/0Hh2lC ) that Glenn would be among the dignitaries at the memorial service and that former astronauts would serve as honorary pallbearers. Colorado's congressional delegation has also been invited.
The service will be at St. John's Episcopal Church, which seats 550 people. The funeral will be open to the public.
Since Carpenter's passing, Glenn, 92, is the remaining survivor of the famed original Mercury 7 astronauts picked by NASA for the first U.S. manned space program in the 1960s.
