DENVER - One school is closed and several schools are starting late on Tuesday.

In Denver, John Amesse Elementary School is closed due to mechanical problems with the school's heating system and low temperatures expected overnight and during the day on Tuesday.

Crews were able to repair the system and restore heat to the building, according to the school district. The building will reopen for classes Wednesday.

The website for the Platte Canyon School District said its schools were on a delayed start Tuesday, but it did not explain if it was because of the temperature or another problem.

That means Platte Canyon High School and Fitzsimmons Middle School will start 90 minutes late and Deer Creek Elementary School will start 75 minutes late.

Woodland Park School District, RE-2, is also starting two hours late.
