Jefferson County deputy exchanges gunfire with suspect during eviction service in Arvada

ARVADA, Colo. – A Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy was shot at while serving an eviction Tuesday afternoon in Arvada.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says the deputy wasn’t injured in the shooting, and that the deputy returned fire at the suspect.

The suspect was barricaded inside of the house in the 5900 block of Garrison Street after the shooting, the sheriff’s office said. But the suspect was in custody just minutes later. Arvada police will now handle the investigation, the sheriff's office said.

An Arvada police spokesperson said the suspect was being treated Tuesday evening for non-life-threatening injuries. The name of the suspect has not been released so far.

The sheriff's office said more details would be forthcoming.
