GREELEY, Colo. - After pleading guilty to sending sexually explicit text messages to a 14-year-old girl, a man was sentenced to jail and probation.
Timothy Shelley, 22, admitted exchanging text messages with the girl from November 2011 to Jan. 1, said Weld County district attorney spokesman Heath Montgomery. Those messages included sexually explicit photos of Shelley that he sent to the girl.
Shelley will spend 21 days in jail and then four years on sex-offender intensive supervised probation, Montgomery said. For six of months on probation, he will have to wear an electronic ankle monitor.
Shelley will also have to register as a sex offender, Montgomery said.
Montgomery said that during an interview with police, Shelley said he had done the same thing, or tried to do the same thing, with at least two other young girls.
Shelley pleaded guilty on Oct. 4 to one count of sexual exploitation of a child through the possession of sexually exploitative material, a felony.
