IREA utility says power will be off 5-hours Tuesday night in Conifer area to repair a damaged switch

CONIFER, Colo. - Electrical power will be shut off for about five hours on Tuesday night in the Aspen Park, Conifer and Tiny Town communities because of a damaged high-voltage switch, a utility company said.
Mike Kopp of Intermountain Rural Electric Association issued a statement Monday saying that because of a mechanical failure of an Xcel Energy high-voltage switch at an electric substation near Morrison, Xcel has to de-energize the transmission line providing power to IREA customers along the Highway 285 corridor.
This means, from about 10 p.m. Tuesday to 3 a.m. Wednesday, customers are expected to be without power in Aspen Park, Conifer and Tiny Town, Kopp said.
IREA purchases wholesale power from Xcel Energy.
