CENTENNIAL, Colo. - An investigation is underway into the unexplained death of an Arapahoe County Jail inmate Tuesday night.
A statement from the sheriff's office said that 51-year-old Eric Terrell Hasley was arrested Monday after a call about a suspicious person hiding in a neighborhood.
The sheriff's office said Hasley was uncooperative and showed signs of intoxication. He received medical treatment at a local hospital and was then cleared for admission to the jail.
Hasley was booked into the jail for investigation of second-degree assault, violation of a protection order and obstructing government operations, the sheriff's office said.
During a routine bed check on Tuesday morning, a deputy noted that Hasley was breathing but the deputy was unable to wake him.
Hasley was rushed to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead at 7:22 p.m.
Hasley’s death is being investigated by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
