CENTENNIAL, Colo. - IKEA said it is expanding the solar array on its store in Centennial.
The new panels will be installed in July. They will cover the roof's remaining space, making the solar array Colorado’s largest rooftop array of any use.
When it's finished, the 1,121-kW solar installation of 4,704 panels will generate 1,701,000 kWh of clean electricity yearly, according to IKEA.
IKEA said it has solar installations atop nearly 90 percent of its U.S. buildings.
The Centennial store is the first IKEA in the U.S. with a geothermal heating and cooling system.
