JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. - Drivers on Highway 285 encountered fog, ice and numerous crashes on Monday morning.

The Colorado State Patrol and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to several crashes.

Five vehicles were involved in accidents over a 1.5 mile stretch of Highway 285 south of Foxton Road.

Three of the vehicles were rollovers, according to troopers at the scene.

A 7NEWS photojournalist drove through fog with less than 100 feet of visibility.

"285 in Conifer is a sheet of black ice right now. Cars sliding everywhere," said a poster named Tanze on Pinecam.com, a popular web forum for people who live in the area.

"All down Foxton and at least to Aspen Park is solid black ice! Be careful!: said another poster who goes by the name Heleens89.
