JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. - A fully-involved garage fire burned in Deer Creek Canyon, southwest of Denver Saturday morning, prompting fears that it would spread.

The fire, reported at about 10:15 a.m., was reported at 17611 Canyon Road.  That's just in the Homewood Park area, off Deer Creek Canyon Road.  The smoke plume was visible from parts of Denver.

At least four local fire agencies initially sent crews and equipment to the fire and were working to keep it  from spreading. Inter-Canyon was assisted by Indian Hills, Elk Creek and Evergreen fire departments.

Evacuation notices for a 2-mile radius around the fire were lifted after the blaze was put out.

The fire was reported out just before 11 a.m.  Damage was confined to the garage with two vehicles destroyed.  Initial reports suggested the fire began with a vehicle explosion in the garage.
