CEDAREDGE, Colo. - A Western Slope man who admitted killing his wife during an argument in 2010 has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Billy Kissner was scheduled to be sentenced on Friday.
Raelynn Kissner died in November 2010. That night, Billy called 911 claiming he had found her lifeless body drowned in the family's hot tub, according to KJCT-TV.
While the coroner and pathologists initially failed to identify a cause and manner of death, the Montrose Daily Press said the coroner did annotate that Raelynn had a blackened left eye, bruising and cuts on her face and head, and that there was no evidence of drowning.
According to the Montrose Daily Press, charges were filed in 2012 after a family member turned over notes in which Billy confessed to killing Raelynn.
Kissner pleaded guilty to manslaughter in August. He took his life over the weekend.
