LOVELAND, Colo. - A horse named Sunny had to be rescued from an icy pond in Loveland Sunday morning.
The 12-year-old female horse was stuck in about 5 feet of water in a pond along Quillan Gulch, according to Loveland Fire Rescue Authority (LFRA).
Sunny's owner noticed she was missing when he went to feed her in the morning, said Jason Stark with LFRA.
When the owner found she had broken through the ice of the pond he called a neighbor for help. After trying unsuccessfully to get Sunny out of the water, they called the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.
An off-duty special operations team helped LFRA large animal rescue personnel pull Sunny out of the pond.
"The horse and owner are doing well," officials said in a post on Facebook.
