Lakewood man arrested as suspect in mother's murder

2 Lakewood officers sustain minor injuries

LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Two Lakewood police officers suffered minor injuries while arresting a homicide suspect at a Denver home on Friday night, authorities said.

The officers were hurt about 9 p.m. as Lakewood and Denver officers arrested homicide suspect Timothy Baca at his father's home in the 1300 block of King St. in Denver.

The two Lakewood officers had minor injuries and did not need to be transported to a hospital, said Denver Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez said. Baca's father said he was armed with a knife when he was arrested and the officers suffered minor cuts on their hands from the knife.

The 41-year-old Baca is a suspect in the killing of his mother at her residence in the 1300 block of Everett Court in Lakewood earlier Friday.

The Everett Court homicide location and the King Street address were Baca was arrested are about 4 miles apart.

Baca is being held for investigation of first-degree murder in the case, Lakewood police said.
