Homemade explosives used to destroy multiple mailboxes in Larimer County, deputies say

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. - Authorities in Larimer County say multiple mailboxes were destroyed by apparent homemade explosives this past weekend.

Between Saturday and Sunday, deputies received three reports of mailboxes that were destroyed, with one report indicating that the device used consisted of firecrackers wrapped in duct tape, according to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said it appears the explosions occurred shortly after being placed in the mailboxes and there is no indication that these incidents were intended as "booby traps" to harm anyone.

No one was injured.

The Sheriff's Office said the incidents during the overnight hours in the following areas of unincorporated Larimer County:

  • 8500 block of S. CR 13
  • 5600 block of Squires Place
