RICO, Colo. – A woman was found dead outside a Dolores County home that was leveled by an explosion Monday afternoon.
The explosion occurred at a home on Piedmont Street in Rico at about 4:30 p.m.
Dolores Fire Protection District Chief Mike Zion said the house was destroyed and there was not any fire when crews arrived, just a pile of debris.
A woman was found deceased outside the home. Officials have not released her identity, pending notification of kin.
Zion said the explosion may have been caused by a propane tank but the investigation is ongoing.
