High wind warning in effect for the Front Range, mountains and foothills through 10 a.m. Tuesday

Gusts up to 80 mph expected in exposed areas

A high wind warning is in effect for the Front Range, foothills and mountains through 10 a.m. Tuesday.

"A strong jet stream moving over northern Colorado will bring strong winds to the Front Range for the next several hours," the National Weather Service for the Denver/Boulder area advised at 4:30 a.m.

Gusts as high as 80 mph are expected in exposed areas, the NWS reported.

As of 4:45 a.m., Interstate 70 in Genessee was seeing sustained winds of 44 mph, with gusts up to 58 mph, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation weather stations.

Winds at Highway 72 and Highway 93 were clocked between 48 and 65 mph.
