High water levels in Clear Creek put some areas of Golden on alert

Water flowing over banks of frozen Clear Creek

GOLDEN, Colo. - Water flowing over the banks of the frozen Clear Creek has some residents in Golden on alert Sunday.

The Golden Fire Department put residents staying in the Clear Creek RV Park on alert but said no evacuations are necessary at this time.

Officials said 10th St. at Cheyenne St. is only open to local traffic. That area includes several city buildings, the Golden Community Center and the Clear Creek RV Park.

Golden police, fire and city crews will be continually monitoring the situation over the next few days, fire department officials said.

Several trails in Golden are closed due to high levels of frozen water, and several parking lots along the creek are also closed.
