DENVER – Good morning, everyone! Here’s what you need to know today on Wednesday, August 30.

1. Texas to have a respite amid Harvey misery
With flood defenses strained and the death toll feared to rise, the forecast for Texas shows less than an inch of rain on Wednesday. The storm made a second landfall near the Texas-Louisiana state line this morning.
 
2. Polis holds town hall meeting
Democratic Rep. Jared Polis will hold a town hall meeting in Broomfield Wednesday. The event begins at 10 a.m. at the Renaissance Boulder Flatiron Hotel in Broomfield.
 
3. State talks Volkswagen settlement money
Colorado will get $68 million from the Volkswagen emissions settlement. Officials plan to detail where that money will go today. Some of it is expected to be spent on electric car charging stations and cleaner buses.
 
4. Hanging Lake open house
The U.S. Forest Service is holding an open house tonight to discuss plans for restricting the number of visitors to Hanging Lake. The meeting is from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs Library.
 
5. More hot weather
Expect mostly sunny, but somewhat hazy, skies for the next several days. Highs will remain in the upper 80s and low 90s for lower elevations, with 70s to around 80 for the mountains.
