Hail strands cars, buses on Hwy 67 near Cripple Creek

Highway reopens 2 1/2 hours later

CRIPPLE CREEK, Colo. - Highway 67 was closed for 2 1/2 hours Sunday, heading to Cripple Creek.

The Colorado State Patrol said the highway was closed at milepost 54 into Cripple Creek after a large amount of hail fell in the area.

CDOT said the closure began just before 5 p.m.

The CSP tweeted traffic was stuck in the hail.  A photo tweeted by the CSP showed a bus and a number of cars stuck along the highway.

The highway was reopened just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
