GREELEY, Colo. - A Greeley police officer is facing felony theft charges after allegedly falsifying his time sheets, said police department spokeswoman Sgt. Susan West.

Officer Shaun Kelly, a five-year veteran, is no longer employed by the city, West said. He is charged with theft of over $1,000 and received a summons to appear in District Court.

The Greeley Tribune reported that Kelly padded his overtime and that West said the amount of the alleged theft is around $3,000.

"I am aware that there are places in both the public and private sectors where it is part of the culture to cheat on your time sheets. That is not the culture of the Greeley Police Department," Chief Jerry Garner said in a quote provided by West.

West added that an administrative investigation is underway by the Police Department.
