Greeley native Mark Hummels dies of wounds from Arizona office building shooting

Hummels taken off life support Thursday night

PHOENIX - Greeley native Mark Hummels, who was wounded in an office shooting in Phoenix Wednesday, passed away Thursday night.

7NEWS sister station ABC15, received this statement from his law firm Osborn Maledon.

I regret to inform you that our friend, Mark Hummels, died last night. He was declared brain dead and taken off life support. Mark was an organ donor.

I have no other details at this time. Anticipating your questions, I do not know the exact time of death or any other information about his organ donation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and we respectfully ask you to give them some time to grieve in private.

Hummels was with his client 48-year old Steve Singer in a mediation session Wednesday morning, when a gunman came in and started shooting. Singer was shot and killed. A third person was shot in the hand, but she's expected to survive.

The suspect 70-year old Arthur Douglas Hamon was found dead Thursday in a car southeast of the office building in Mesa, AZ. Police said he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was in the middle of lawsuit against Hummels' client's company.

The Greeley Tribune reported Hummels parents still live in Greeley. He has a wife and two children.
