Greeley man sentenced to prison for panty thefts

GREELEY, Colo. - A Greeley man was sentenced Friday  to four years in prison for stealing women's panties from an apartment complex in Greeley.

Joey Eugene Gallegos, 39, pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary, and theft of less than $500. He was immediately sentenced to four years in prison for the felony and one year in jail for the misdemeanor; the terms will be served at the same time in the Colorado Department of Corrections.

At the same hearing, Gallegos also pleaded guilty to driving after revocation prohibited and was sentenced to 15 months in prison, also to be served concurrently.

A second felony burglary case and two misdemeanor theft cases were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Greeley police arrested Gallegos on Aug. 1 after tying him to the theft of undergarments from a laundry room and apartments in a complex in the 1800 block of 30th Street. Inside his residence, located a block away, investigators found more than 350 items of women’s clothing, mostly undergarments, all believed to have been stolen.
