4-acre grass fire in Highlands Ranch at Highlands Ranch Parkway and University quickly extinguished

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. - A 4-acre grass fire that broke out in Highlands Ranch Wednesday afternoon was quickly extinguished and no damage or injuries were reported.

Littleton Fire officials told 7NEWS that the fire started just after 3 p.m. near Highlands Ranch Parkway and University. 

It grew to 4 acres, but nine fire crews and a helicopter pounced on the fire and had it snuffed by 4:20 p.m., fire officials said.

A 7NEWS viewer, Jeffrey Guggenmos, tweeted us a photo and video of a helicopter dropping buckets of water on the fire. The fire appeared behind a new housing development in the area.

Several people can be seen standing around, watching firefighters and the helicopter  work on the blaze.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
