Gold shop employee charged in theft of diamonds from other jewelry store at Denver Merchandise Mart

Huda Muhaisen charged with felony theft

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. - A 67-year-old woman who works at a gold shop at the Denver Merchandise Mart is accused of stealing at least $100,000 worth of diamonds from a neighboring jewelry store, authorities said.

Huda Wadie Muhaisen was formally charged Thursday with one count of felony theft in Adams County court, said Sue Lindsay, spokeswoman for the District Attorney's Office. The class-3 felony charge covers thefts where the loss ranges from $100,000 to $1 million.

Muhaisen is accused of stealing the gems on March 11 from Legino Diamonds, located in the Merchandise Mart at 451 E 58th Ave., Suite 2473.

According to public records, Muhaisen works at A & A Gold International, located in Suite 2563 in the Merchandise Mart.

Adams County sheriff's deputies arrested Muhaisen on March 13. She has been released from jail on $10,000 bond.
