Getaway driver gives up suspect in a dozen Boulder-area robberies

BOULDER, Colo. - Caught by Boulder police, a suspected getaway driver provided information that led investigators to a suspect in 12 robberies.

The getaway driver is suspected of being behind the wheel of a black Chevrolet Blazer that was sought in connection with the robbery of a Conoco gas station at 4742 Table Mesa Drive on New Year's Eve. Boulder Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kobel said the car also fit the description of a getaway vehicle used in a robbery on Dec. 29.

Colorado State Patrol found the Blazer in Niwot.

Kobel says the suspected driver was "cooperative" and offered information used to identify the robbery suspect as Alishan Yapoujian, 25. The department is not identifying the suspected getaway driver.

Yapoujian is suspected in ten robberies in the city of Boulder and two others in Boulder County. An arrest warrant was issued for him on New Year's Eve and officers also obtained a search warrant for his home.

Currently, Yapoujian is in the Boulder County Jail on a charge of aggravated robbery. Kobel said additional charges are likely.
