PULLMAN, Wash. – Researchers at Washington State University are looking for a few stoned volunteers to help develop a breathalyzer test for marijuana.
KIRO-TV reports the scientists are looking for volunteers who are 21 or older (the legal age to consume marijuana in Washington) to get high and then undergo testing.
The study participants will have to buy the marijuana on their own and then consume it at home. Once they’re high, they’ll take a taxi to a Pullman, Washington hospital for testing.
The researchers hope to develop a breathalyzer test for field testing of marijuana intoxication, similar to tests that are used for alcohol.
Study volunteers will be paid $30 for the first hour and $10 for each additional hour of participation, KIRO reports.
