Gear stolen from Colorado Mammoth lacrosse goaltender Dillon Ward 2 days before playoffs

The Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse team says its goalie's gear was stolen two days before the playoffs start.

The gear was stolen from outside Dillon Ward's home Thursday.

“I’ve been in the league for 20 years and this is a first,” said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. “I don’t know who, in their right mind, would want smelly lacrosse goalie gear. Now we’re up against a real deadline to try to find a solution and to give Dillon a chance to make his postseason debut.”

The team leaves this morning for Calgary. They play Saturday in the West Division Semifinal of the Champion’s Cup Playoffs.

Most National Lacrosse League goaltenders own only one set of gear and the team said that's true for Ward.

Friday morning, other teams reached out to the Mammoth offering loaner gear so Ward and the Mammoth can play Saturday.

The team will be borrowing gear from the Vancouver Stealth.
