GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo. - Three dogs with the Garfield County Sheriff's Office in Rifle are getting ballistic vests.
Bak, Falcos and Cio will be receiving bullet and stab protective vests, according to the Garfield County Sheriff's Office.
The vests are coming from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and The Petco Foundation.
"These highly trained dogs not only protect their fellow Officers, but they become a part of each Deputy’s home family too," the sheriff's office said in a news release. "These vests will protect our four legged officers that accompany and help our Deputies each day to make our communities safer.
Each vests costs $950. The Petco Foundation's "Helping Heroes" campaign raised money to donate K9 vests to law enforcement agencies in nine states.
