Funeral service Friday for Littleton Police officer Kevin Denner

LITTLETON, Colo. - Funeral services were held Friday for Littleton Police Officer Kevin Denner.

Denner was riding his motorcycle on Monday when he was hit by a car in Aurora.

Denner, who was off-duty, died at the scene.

The driver, Jemal Abdelkader Dawed, 37, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, driving while under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and failure to yield the right of way.

Denner's funeral was Friday at Mission Hills Church at 620 SouthPark Drive in Littleton.

Denner is survived by his wife Kristin and two young children. 

"Kevin dedicated his career to preventing these types of crimes," Kristin Denner said. "He was an amazing father and a devoted husband and we will never forget him."

"Kevin was not only a tremendous asset to the department but he was a dedicated friend to many," said             Interim Littleton Police Chief Gene Enley. "He will be sorely missed."
