7:01 p.m.: A winter storm dumping several inches of snow in the high country has prompted multiple closures, making for a difficult commute on Interstate 70 Friday evening. You can read more about that here: http://bit.ly/2zKyrVv
CDOT and @CSP_News are working as fast as possible to move spunout vehicles and jackknifed semis on I-70 Mtn Corridor. Some plows stuck in traffic as well. No ETA, will depend on weather conditions. Please drive safe. We will update when conditions change.
For those heading up the I-70 Mtn Corridor, make sure you have the following BEFORE you head up: full tank of gas, snacks, water, blanket, chains and tires with at least 1/8” of tread (should cover top of George Washington’s head).
Safety closures are to help stop spinouts and crashes as well as to clean up existing spunout vehicles. These closures must go into place to help keep the public safe (as well as 1st responders) and keep the interstate from closing for an even longer amount of time.
